A Miami yacht rental with a captain costs about $1,000 to $2,900 for 4 hours on a yacht under 50 ft, $1,700 to $5,500 on a 50 to 70 ft yacht, and from about $3,000 to $9,700+ on 75 ft and up, based on the 2026 prices three Miami operators publish. A full 8-hour day costs about 40 to 90% more. Add a 15 to 20% crew gratuity, and at some operators 7% sales tax.

Most Miami yachts take a maximum of 13 guests however big they are, because of U.S. Coast Guard rules. If you are 14 or more, see our guide to yachts for more than 13 guests.

Why the gap? YATR says its Miami prices include "captain, crew, fuel, taxes, and fees", while Yachts Miami Vice publishes base rates before gratuity, and Miami Yacht Connect adds 18% gratuity and 7% tax at checkout. Compare like with like: ask each operator for the all-in total for your date.

The extras: gratuity, tax and card fees

ExtraWhat Miami operators publish
Crew gratuity15–20%, not included (Yachts Miami Vice); 18% added automatically (Miami Yacht Connect)
Florida sales tax7% added at checkout (Miami Yacht Connect)
Card processing4% on cards, Venmo and Cash App; Zelle and Apple Pay at face value (Yachts Miami Vice)
FuelIncluded for the standard Miami cruising route
Catering, DJ, jet skiExtra; YATR lists catering from about $500 and jet skis at $200–400 an hour

Worked example: a 50–59 ft yacht for 4 hours at $1,700 to $3,800 (Yachts Miami Vice), plus 18% gratuity, comes to about $2,000 to $4,500. Split between 12 guests, that is roughly $170 to $375 per person. Our calculation, before card fees and extras.

How many people fit on a Miami yacht?

The U.S. Coast Guard requires a Certificate of Inspection for any vessel carrying more than six passengers for hire, and limits bareboat charters to 12 passengers plus the charterer (U.S. Coast Guard). Miami operators apply this as a 13-guest maximum: Odysea says "up to 13 passengers onboard", and Miami Yacht Connect lists 13 including the charterer.

So a 100 ft yacht usually takes the same 13 guests as a 55 ft one. Choose the size for comfort and toys, not headcount. For 14 or more people you need a yacht inspected for larger groups, or two yachts booked together; see Miami yachts for more than 13 guests.

Where you leave from and where you go

YATR's Miami listings depart from marinas including Miami Beach Marina, Haulover Marine Center, Epic Marina and the Miami River (5th Street Marina). A 4-hour charter usually stays in Biscayne Bay and along Miami Beach. Popular stops listed by YATR:

  • Haulover Sandbar and Nixon Sandbar: anchored swim-and-party spots.
  • Star Island and Fisher Island: cruising past waterfront homes.
  • Stiltsville and Key Biscayne: calmer water for swimming and snorkelling.

Longer charters can reach the Florida Keys or Bimini; see Miami to the Bahamas by yacht.

When to book and cancellation terms

YATR recommends booking 2 to 4 weeks ahead for weekdays, 4 to 6 weeks for weekends, and 6 to 8 weeks for peak season (December to April), holidays and events such as Art Basel or the Miami boat show. Its typical cancellation terms: full refund 14 or more days out, 50% at 7 to 14 days, and generally no refund within 7 days. Policies vary by yacht, so read yours before paying.

How to rent a yacht in Miami for less

  • Go on a weekday in the off-season (May to November), when demand is lowest.
  • Take 4 or 8 hours, not 6. The 8-hour block usually has the lowest hourly rate.
  • Size down. A 45 ft yacht carries the same 13 guests legally as an 80 ft one.
  • Ask for the all-in price in writing, including gratuity, tax and card fees.
  • Pay by bank transfer where an operator charges a card fee.

FAQ

Can I rent a yacht for a day in Miami?

Yes. Full-day (8-hour) charters with a captain are common: published 2026 prices run from about $1,900 to $4,100 for yachts under 50 ft, $3,000 to $8,200 for 50 to 79 ft, and from $5,000 for 80 ft and larger (Yachts Miami Vice), plus gratuity.

How much does it cost to rent a yacht for a day in Florida?

In the Miami area, a full day on a yacht with a captain costs about $1,900 to $8,200 for most yachts up to 79 ft, before a 15 to 20% gratuity. Fort Lauderdale prices are similar; our Fort Lauderdale guide lists real yachts and prices.

How much is a yacht in Miami for 2 hours?

Most Miami yacht price lists start at 4 hours. Marketplace Getmyboat says minimums of 2 to 4 hours are common, so a 2-hour trip is mostly possible on smaller boats. On a full-size yacht you usually pay the operator's minimum block even if you only use part of it.

Where can I rent a 20-person yacht in Miami?

Most Miami yachts are limited to 13 guests. For 20 people you need a Coast Guard inspected vessel certified for more passengers, or two yachts booked together. YATR publishes 4-hour totals of about $6,800 to $8,500 for 20 guests on two yachts; see our large group guide.

Is gratuity included in Miami yacht rental prices?

Usually not in the headline price. Miami operators publish crew gratuity of 15 to 20%, and some add 18% to the bill automatically. Ask whether it is already included before you tip again.
