To rent a yacht for a week costs about $6,500 to $13,000 for a 40 to 50 ft yacht in popular sailing destinations, typically without crew, and $39,000 to $139,000 for a crewed 62 to 140 ft yacht listed out of Miami and Florida, based on 2026 prices. Shorter trips from Miami start around $8,000 for 2 to 3 days to Bimini in the Bahamas.

The weekly rate is rarely the whole bill: food, fuel, taxes, marina fees and crew gratuity can be added on top.

What is added to the weekly price

  • Food and drinks. Provisioning for the trip is arranged before you leave; ask whether it is included or charged at cost.
  • Fuel, dockage and marina fees on longer runs.
  • Bahamas fees and taxes: a cruising permit of $150 to $600 by yacht length, a $30 departure tax per person beyond three, and on charters in Bahamian waters a 10% VAT plus a 4% charter fee (Bahamas government).
  • Crew gratuity. 12knots advises confirming the guidance for the specific yacht rather than assuming one percentage.

When to book a week

  • November to May is the most comfortable season for Miami and the Bahamas, with March and April the calmest crossing months (YATR).
  • Hurricane season in the Atlantic runs from June 1 to November 30, peaking around September 10 (NOAA National Hurricane Center). Summer charters are cheaper but need flexible dates and clear cancellation terms.
  • Peak dates (Christmas, New Year, spring break) book early and cost the most.

Is a week worth it over day charters?

For a group that wants several days on the water, usually yes: you skip daily hotel and transfer costs, and per hour the yacht costs less than day charters. For one or two days out, a day charter in Miami is simpler and far cheaper.

FAQ

How much does it cost to rent a yacht for a week?

About $6,500 to $13,000 for a 40 to 50 ft yacht without crew in popular destinations such as the Bahamas or the Virgin Islands, and $39,000 to $139,000 for crewed 62 to 140 ft yachts listed out of Miami and Florida in 2026. Food, fuel, taxes and gratuity can be extra.

How much is a 3 day yacht charter?

From Miami, YATR lists 2 to 3 day trips to Bimini from about $8,000 to $20,000. Miami Yacht Connect lists multi-day Bahamas trips on 70 ft and larger yachts from $7,500 a day.

How much is 3 days on a superyacht?

At the weekly rates listed for 88 to 140 ft crewed yachts out of Florida ($40,000 to $139,000), three days would cost very roughly $17,000 to $60,000 before extras, if the yacht accepts a short charter. Many superyachts set minimum charter lengths, so ask.
