The newest addition to the Outer Reef lineup is the Adventure 780. The yacht utilizes a steel hull for stability, safety and comfort in demanding conditions, further aided by fin stabilizers and sound-reducing technologies. The Adventure 780 is designed for a range of waters, from the Mediterranean to more challenging environments like Alaska and the Great Barrier Reef.

The maiden voyage of the Adventure 780 covered an impressive 2,300-plus nautical miles nonstop, and highlighted the vessel’s fuel efficiency, burning less than 5 gallons of fuel per hour for a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles.

Australian yacht builder Maritimo launched its M50 Flybridge Motor Yacht at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

The 50-foot enclosed flybridge yacht integrates Maritimo’s hallmark features—ocean-going capability, safety and long-range cruising capabilities—while introducing refinements in layout, stowage and functionality. A key exterior innovation is the articulating rear swim platform, which folds to reduce the M50’s dockside length and opens to create a waterside entertainment zone.

Inside, panoramic windows, skylights and hatches illuminate the interior with natural light. The M50 has a two-stateroom layout with a full-beam master stateroom, which the builder says is larger than those typically found on 55- and 60-foot yachts. Additional accommodations include a convertible lounge in the flybridge, increasing guest capacity to eight.

The enclosed flybridge features climate control, twin helm chairs, a wraparound lounge and space for several navigation displays. Powered by twin Volvo Penta D13-800 engines, the Maritimo M50 cruises at 24 knots and reaches top speeds of 30 knots, according to the builder’s sea trials. It’s designed for long-distance coastal or offshore cruising, and also marks the beginning of a refreshed model cycle, with the S50 Sedan variant expected in 2026.

Introducing the Outer Reef Yachts 780 Adventure https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/new-yachts-outer-reef-780-adventure/ Fri, 18 Apr 2025 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=69455 A steel-hulled 78-foot Adventure Series flagship hits the water from the Florida-based yacht builder, Outer Reef.

When most boaters think of Outer Reef Yachts, they think of traits such as long range, bluewater capability and an FRP hull. Now the Florida-based builder is expanding into the fast-displacement explorer-yacht sector with its 780 Adventure, a steel-hulled 78-foot yacht that will be constructed in a yard in the Netherlands that Outer Reef acquired in a recent merger with Lynx Yachts.

This flagship of the Adventure Series is being built to cruise the most remote destinations. Hull No. 1 is expected to debut at yacht shows this year. Outer Reef CEO Jeff Druek says the 780 Adventure is a direct response to increasing demand for explorer yachts: “We’ve seen a growing interest in adventure yachting, particularly among a younger generation of cruisers eager to explore remote and extraordinary destinations. Outer Reef owners have already embarked on remarkable journeys to places like Alaska, the Great Barrier Reef, the Galapagos Islands, Patagonia, Greenland, Iceland and multiple passages around Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of Tierra del Fuego in Chile. This shift highlights a desire for unique, transformative experiences, and Outer Reef is committed to leading the way in these exciting new developments.”

This yacht also represents a significant design departure for Outer Reef, which aims to appeal to those younger buyers. A modern touch on the interior is the volume-enhancing windows that create a bold first impression. Out on deck, the foredeck can stow a RIB and water toys, giving energetic cruising families plenty of options for playtime on the hook. The main deck aft is set up for entertainment and relaxation, with two L-shaped settees flanking the space forward and a transom settee aft. The flybridge is dedicated to entertaining. (The 780’s only helm station is on the main deck.) This flybridge setup allows for a lounge pad aft beyond the hardtop, alfresco dining amidships, and multiple lounge areas forward.

According to the builder, the combination of a fast-displacement steel hull and optional Cat C32 diesels gives the 780 Adventure an estimated 18-knot top speed, while the standard twin 425 hp Cummins diesels should deliver a nearly 3,200-nautical-mile range cruising at 7 knots. The 780 is also equipped with fin stabilizers that have zero-speed functionality for added stability underway and at anchor.

The main-deck interior has the salon lounge area aft, with L-shaped sofas to port and starboard. A high-low table to port offers an interior dining spot. The main-deck galley and pilothouse are past the forward bulkhead.

For owners looking to combine modern aesthetics and creature comforts with the ability to throw a pin at a chart and go, the Outer Reef Yachts 780 Adventure provides the best of both worlds.

Your Way

Thanks to a high level of maneuverability and docking technology, the 780 Adventure is owner-operator-friendly, but also has space for a small crew in case owners want to enjoy a little more relaxation while cruising.

Belowdecks

The 780 Adventure is designed with flexibility in mind. Accommodations can vary depending on what an owner needs for different cruising plans with family and friends. The builder offers the model in a four-or five-stateroom layout.

Flex Space

While most of the outdoor space on the 780 Adventure is dedicated to entertaining, the foredeck is set up for a RIB tender and PWC stowage. Owners can also opt for seating.

Outer Reef Yachts has introduced the 540 Adventure, hot on the heels of the 780 Adventure model that premiered in autumn 2024 following Outer Reef’s strategic merger with the Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts.

Similar to the 780 Adventure, the 540 Adventure is designed and engineered in the Netherlands by Bernd Weel Design. It has additional engineering by Studio Delta Naval Architects and interiors by Julian Moore Design.

Accommodations include three staterooms, with a full-beam master amidships and two heads, while optional crew quarters can be configured as a lazarette. Courtesy Outer Reef Yachts

What’s different about the 540 Adventure is that it will be built in FRP, whereas the 780 Adventure is constructed with a steel hull. Power on the 540 Adventure will be a pair of 600 hp Volvo Penta D8 diesels with conventional drive-shaft propulsion, ZF transmissions and joystick controls. The yacht’s projected range is 2,000 nautical miles to allow for long-range and coastal cruising.

Additional equipment includes Humphree stabilizers and interceptors, a 16 kW Northern Lights generator, a Side-Power electric bow thruster with dual station controls, and a MarineAir air conditioning system.

Outer Reef Yachts created the Adventure line with a goal of appealing to younger clients who are looking for something more contemporary and expedition-spirited than the company’s extensive line of Classic models. The shipyard offers five lines of yachts in total, also including the M Class, S Class and Trident Series lines.

Inside, the layout on the 540 Adventure  has three staterooms, including a full-beam amidships master stateroom. There are also two heads. Crew quarters are optional aft, or owners can outfit that space as a lazarette.

There’s entertaining and relaxation space on the top deck as well as on the main deck, with interior and upper-deck helms for operating the yacht comfortably in just about any kind of weather.

“The launch of the 540 Adventure is a milestone for Outer Reef Yachts as we continue to innovate and respond to the needs of today’s long-range yacht owners,” Jeff Druek, president and CEO of Outer Reef Yachts, stated in a press release. “This model exemplifies our commitment to designing and building yachts that combine exceptional performance, rugged capability and comfort. We are thrilled to bring this exciting new option to the market and look forward to welcoming a new generation of Outer Reef owners.”

What are the key specs for the Outer Reef 540 Adventure? Length overall is 56 feet, 5 inches. Beam is 17 feet, 8 inches, and the draft is 4 feet. Displacement is 34.5 tons.

Grand Banks Yachts will unveil its newest model, the Grand Banks 62, at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 19-23. The latest addition to the Grand Banks lineup builds on the builder’s GB60, delivering enhanced range, efficiency and performance.

“The principles you’ll see in the Grand Banks 62 define the 60 series and our entire range—less weight, more strength, reduced fuel burn, increased range, and improved efficiency,” says Mark Richards, CEO of Grand Banks Yachts.

The Grand Banks 62 has the company’s V-Warp Technology, a proprietary hull design that combines a knife-like entry, graceful curvature amidships, and minimal deadrise at the transom. The hull is infused with E-Glass, unidirectional and multi-axial fiber, then fused to a carbon fiber structure, deck and superstructure to create a robust, bluewater cruising platform.

During initial sea trials, the builder reports the GB62 recorded a top speed of 30 knots and a fast cruise speed of 27 knots. At 20 knots, the total fuel-burn rate is 38 gallons per hour. The yacht reportedly has a 2,000-nautical-mile range at 10 knots with a 10-percent fuel reserve.

Power options include twin Volvo Penta D13s (900 hp each) with straight shafts as standard, with optional twin D13s (1,000 hp each) or IPS 1200s (900 hp each).

The Grand Banks 62 is available in flybridge or skylounge configurations.

An amidships master stateroom is equipped with a king-size berth, large shower and abundant stowage for extended cruising. The forward VIP stateroom includes a queen berth and dedicated head. A third guest stateroom to starboard is sizable with an athwartships double berth and a single berth, an en suite head and a utility space for a washer/dryer.

The main deck has nearly 360 degrees of glass that provide natural light and views, with a galley-aft layout that enables seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining. The lower helm station offers clear sightlines in all directions.

“The Palm Beach International Boat Show is the perfect venue to introduce the Grand Banks 62 to our owners, media, and enthusiasts,” Richards says.

The Grand Banks 62 continues the brand’s nearly 70-year history of building long-range cruising yachts, offering a blend of performance, efficiency and craftsmanship.

Sirena Marine didn’t seem to have plans to build superyachts back in 2008, when the Turkish company entered into a partnership with Azimut-Benetti to produce yachts for the Italian behemoth. Sirena eventually turned out hundreds of motoryachts and sailboats, including three well-known models for Azimut Yachts.

Then, in 2015, Sirena developed its own motoryacht line, with the Sirena 64 and the Sirena 58 both making their debuts in 2017. The yachts were well received, and more models followed, with today’s lineup starting at 48 and going up to the recently introduced flagship Sirena 118—the first model in a larger composite line for the builder.

Hull No. 1 is expected in 2026, launching Sirena into the world of superyachts. Naval architecture on the Sirena 118 is by Germán Frers, with interior design by Cor D. Rover, both industry heavyweights.

The yacht will have Sirena’s trademark plumb bow that creates enough volume for a VIP and as many as four guest staterooms on the lower deck, with the owner’s stateroom on the main deck forward. That owner’s space can be spread across two decks, with a spiral staircase leading down to a relaxation area near the water.

Projected top speed is 16 knots with standard power, or 21 knots with the optional package, for island hopping just about anywhere.

Coming in 2026

Constantinos K. Constantinou, the head of Sirena Yachts USA, says the Sirena 118 is being built with “intelligent design, flawless engineering and sleek, modern aesthetics,” all combined with a passion for the yachting lifestyle.

Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90: An Explorer Vessel with Eco-Friendly Innovations https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/ferretti-infynito-90-reviewed/ Fri, 01 Nov 2024 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=66901 The Infynito 90 combines long-range cruising with cutting-edge design, solar power and luxurious, sustainable interiors.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90 takes inspiration from the explorer market. It is marketed as a long-range, go-anywhere motoryacht with eco credentials, including solar power, sustainable sourcing and recycled materials.

The Infynito 90’s exterior and space planning are the work of Filippo Salvetti’s studio. The yacht measures 88 feet, 6 inches long and has a 24-foot-1-inch beam, but more interesting are the almost 1,100 square feet of exterior deck area and the 1,500 square feet of interior real estate. Ferretti Yachts says the interior volume is around 25 percent bigger than the market average, with an open-plan main deck and sky lounge above.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90
The salon has parquet soles. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

Most striking is the yacht’s partially enclosed foredeck, which Ferretti refers to as an all-seasons terrace. It’s a real wow feature, fully protected from above by a roof that stretches from the forward-raked bridge-deck windows to the ultra-high stem. The foredeck is open to the sides, with a view forward via a window. The superstructure’s overhead section can have the standard UV-filter glass skylight, solar panels or louvers.

Various options are also available for the yacht’s forward area. The first hull has seating around a hot tub. The second hull has a two-piece bar with a teak top, carbon legs and six bar stools. The standard offering has an L-shaped sofa and table immediately forward of the opening picture window that connects to the salon. No matter which setup an owner selects, the bow area is all sun pad that conceals the ground tackle. Generous overhangs protect the full side decks, cockpit and upper deck aft.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90
The full-beam owner’s stateroom is set up with a king berth. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

Ideaeitalia’s Davide Bernardini and Alessio Battistini developed the interior options, which they say aspire to softness and sobriety rather than minimalism. The result is what the Italians do best: contemporary cool. The Infynito 90 that I got aboard had parquet soles in the main salon, with an aft lounge, an open galley amidships, and a dining table with marvelous views on three sides.

One deck up, the sky lounge can be an open plan, with the upper helm separated by bulkheads and a sliding door for crew privacy.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90
The all-seasons terrace on the Infynito 90’s foredeck has several layout options, including a bar. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

The standard accommodations layouts have three or four staterooms, all on the lower deck. There is the possibility of a main-deck owner’s stateroom, with three or four staterooms on the deck below. I’m told that the third and fourth hulls have the main-deck master arrangement.

On the lower deck, the amidships stateroom occupies the full beam with a forward-facing king berth, en suite head, walk-in closet, and 24-by-82-inch picture windows on each side. Another stateroom is in the bow with a transverse double berth and en suite head. The third twin-berth stateroom is to port. The optional fourth stateroom with crossover bunks can instead be outfitted as a children’s play space, mini gym or laundry room.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90
Bulkheads and a sliding door can separate the upper helm. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

The crew area is just abaft amidships, acting as a buffer between the largest stateroom and the engine room. A pair of twin-bunk cabins are on each side, with a mess space between them.

There are two engine options, both spinning out via V-boxes. The standard offering is twin 1,550 hp MAN V-12 diesels, which reportedly provide a top speed of 20 knots and a 15-knot fast cruise. The Infynito 90 that I got aboard had the bigger 1,800 hp MAN V-12 diesels, which push along comfortably at 22 to 23 knots, depending on load and weather. During our runs, the best we managed was 22.8 knots with a negligible breeze, tiny seas and a relatively light load. A fast cruise would be more like 15 to 17 knots with the bigger diesels, allowing a range of about 400 to 500 nautical miles. At 12 knots, the quoted range with this powertrain is 1,200 nm. At 10 knots, it’s perhaps a little over 2,000 nm.

Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90
This overhead image hints at the Infynito 90’s trademark feature: a semi-enclosed foredeck. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

Driving this boat is a real pleasure. The helm has a light, responsive fly-by-wire steering system with a self-centering wheel. Visibility is good because the bridge position is high and well forward, and there are wraparound windows with minimal mullions to deliver broad views. A blind spot immediately beneath the bow is similar to what I’ve experienced on comparable yachts; to minimize that issue, there are side-deck doors for maneuvering in close quarters. Wing stations and a stern station are on the options sheet.

With its standout design features and numerous options, the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 90 offers owners a chance to cruise in whatever way they prefer. It is indeed a yacht inspired by the desire to head out on the water and explore. Some owners won’t ever want to come back.

Sounds Good

The Infynito 90 that I got aboard was exceptionally quiet. The normal level of conversation is 65 decibels. At 20 knots with the doors shut, I recorded just 52 decibels on the bridge, 62 decibels in the main salon and VIP stateroom, and 67 decibels in the owner’s stateroom, which is closest to the machinery space. While cruising at the 10-knot speed limit in a channel in Venice, Italy, I could barely tell the engines were running.

Infynito and Beyond

The Infynito name is meant to suggest a seamless connection with the sea and sky, and a visual continuity between interior and exterior spaces. The spelling rather cleverly includes Ferretti Yachts’ initials.

Sun Soaking

Solar panels over the forward terrace and atop the superstructure can contribute up to 7 kWh of power. What’s more, opting for solar does not necessarily mean losing the louvered foredeck overhead. The photovoltaic cells can be incorporated into the louvered panels, easing the load on the generator.

Little Sister

The next Infynito from Ferretti Yachts is expected to debut at this month’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Called the Infynito 80, it will have a 77-foot-9-inch length overall. Whereas the Infynito 90 is a trideck, the 80 will have a raised pilothouse and a flybridge that can be open or partially enclosed. With twin 1,400 hp MAN V-12s, the new model will reportedly have a top speed of 23 knots and a 1,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots.

Like all Outer Reef Yachts models, the 670 Azure Sport Yacht is a stalwart long-range cruiser. It has a stout, hand-laid fiberglass hull and PVC coring above the waterline for strength without added weight. This yacht—part of the builder’s Classic S series—also has a focus on alfresco living and entertaining.

The cockpit has a dining area aft with a fixed teak table and a transom bench seat. Forward and to port, a two-stool bar shares a countertop with the aft galley. When the window and sliding glass door are open, the two spaces blend, creating an indoor-outdoor entertaining area. The galley aft makes it easy to serve guests in the salon and the cockpit simultaneously.

The 670’s interior has satin-finish teak, a white vinyl headliner and abundant natural light, all creating a warm vibe. Supreme Scene

Wide side decks and high bulwarks topped with stainless-steel handrails allow for safe passage to and from the foredeck, which has a different setup compared to previous Classic series builds. There is a deep, U-shaped settee with a high-low teak table and room for six people. For times when the sun gets a little too hot, a shade extends off the superstructure and secures to two poles forward.

The 670 Azure Sport’s flybridge has two sections: an isinglass-enclosed space forward under the hardtop, as well as an open deck aft. The helm station is under the hardtop, and guests have lounge seating aft to keep the captain company and take in the views underway. Two L-shaped settees flank the entryway, with a fixed table paired with a settee to port. The after section of the flybridge has tender stowage and a grill station.

Standard power on the 670 Azure Sport Yacht is twin 500 hp John Deere 6090 diesels with ZF transmissions. Optional power includes 750 hp John Deere engines and Caterpillar C12.9s—which are on the first hull delivered. Depending on the power package, cruise speeds can reportedly range from 9 to 16.5 knots, with top speeds from 14 to 20 knots. Cruising at 9 knots gives the yacht a reported 1,200-nautical-mile range.

The MY5, the first flybridge catamaran in the Fountaine Pajot powercat line and previously known as the MY40, pushes the boundaries of powercat cruising in speed, safety and style.

Thanks to its dual-hull cat design with suspended central platform, the MY5 offers increased interior volume, long range and stability, at rest and underway. Powercats are also highly efficient, requiring less propulsion to achieve similar speeds and ranges as conventional monohull vessels.

The flybridge deck is a standout feature, offering virtually unobstructed 360-degree ocean views and an elevated beach club vibe. Aft of the off-center starboard helm is a spacious area perfect for entertaining, complete with a wet bar, refrigeration center, and seating. It’s the most popular space aboard, according to the builder. If the weather turns, a second helm station in the salon allows the skipper to pilot the MY5 in climate-controlled comfort.

On the main deck, architect Daniel Andrieu and the Andreani Design team created a modern yet timeless look, maximizing the use of space offered by the vessel’s nearly 20-foot beam. The galley, located on the starboard side, connects both interior and exterior spaces while the foredeck offers a sunbather’s paradise with dual lounges and abundant seating.

At the stern, an optional hydraulic swim platform lowers for launching a PWC or small tender. A swim ladder provides easy access from the water. The teak cockpit has an L-shaped settee and easy access to the engines via deck hatches. Crew safety is a priority, with secure grab rails along the spiral staircase leading to the flybridge and tall railings along the walkaround alleys fore and aft.

Belowdecks, the Maestro layout includes an owner’s suite with a private companionway for added privacy. The stateroom, equipped with a transverse queen berth, gets natural light via hullside windows. The VIP stateroom has a similar-sized berth, while the forward guest stateroom offers twin bunks. Two heads and enough stowage space for extended cruising complete the accommodations.

Outer Reef Yachts, whose boats are known for their globe-girdling cruising itineraries, has launched its 670 Azure Sport Yacht.

This bluewater-capable, owner-operator cruiser, which is the flagship of the builder’s six-model S Class lineup, starts with solid hand-laid fiberglass construction for the hull below the waterline. Above the waterline, PVC sandwich core is used for strength without added weight. All in, this 67-footer displaces about 99,000 pounds. The yacht is outfitted with ABT Trac 220 stabilizers with 6-square-foot fins to further enhance the ride over the long haul.

Power for the 670 Azure Sport Yacht is a pair of 985 hp Caterpillar C-12.9 diesels paired to a ZF transmission. (The standard spec is twin 500 hp John Deere diesels.) In addition to main engines, those passages are supported by two 20 kW Northern Lights gensets to ensure all of the hotel loads, including the MarineAir direct air conditioning, have the required juice when the only sight is the next horizon.

The 670 Azure Sport Yacht has two helm stations, one forward and to starboard on the main deck with a single helm chair and companion seat across, and a second, double-wide helm seat on centerline on the flybridge. Both helm stations have Stidd seats and Garmin multifunction displays. The flybridge also has an L-shaped settee seating to port and abaft the helm as well as room for a grill and tender stowage on the aft deck.

Accommodations include a full-beam (17’2”) owners’ stateroom amidships with a king-size berth, a walk-in closet, satin-finish teak bulkheads, doors and cabinets, and an en suite head with teak-and-holly sole and a shower. There is also a forepeak VIP with a queen-size berth and a guest stateroom to port with two bunks. The VIP has access to the guest head with a shower. There is also head access off the companionway.

On the main-deck, the entertainment-centric layout starts with the galley aft. A drop-down window helps create a seamless connection between the salon and cockpit. The Azure 670 Sport Yacht’s galley is set up with GE appliances, in microwave, electric cooktop, oven, undercounter refrigerator, trash compactor and garbage disposal.

In the cockpit, there are two bar stools and a countertop facing the galley further illustrating the indoor-outdoor connectivity. There is also a dining table under the flybridge overhang abaft the bar area with bench seating along the transom.

Stairs to starboard lead to the lower teak cockpit, while a second door provides access to the hydraulic swim platform, which lowers to let owners to launch a tender and water toys, as well as prep to go scuba diving and swimming.

For sun and breeze, accompanied by some quietude, the 670 Azure Sport Yacht has a foredeck lounge with U-shaped seating around a teak table. It’s a great spot for sundowners on the hook.

With its robust construction, long-range-cruising accommodations, reliable power and a layout conducive to family-friendly voyages, the Outer Reef Yachts 670 Azure Sport Yacht should make the short list for enthusiasts ready to aim for that second star to the left and head straight on till morning.
