Daniela De Marco, Fraser’s head of charter management in Europe, says only three Columbus motoryachts are available for charter in the world today, with Anjelif being the newest. This bronze beauty was delivered in 2024 to a first-time owner who had definite ideas about how to make a charter yacht stand out.

“The owner is an experienced charterer from the past, so she implemented everything that she experienced and that she thought could be improved from her experiences when chartering boats,” De Marco says. “She was very much part of the design of the yacht.”

Note the clear panels all around the hot tub and lounging space. They allow for nearly uninterrupted views while still ensuring safety for all the guests. Courtesy Fraser

One example is the flexibility in how spaces can be used. The helipad on the bow is only for the owner’s use, De Marco says, “but it converts to a dance floor or an outdoor cinema. At night, this area becomes amazing, really.” By day, that same space can be used for yoga or other exercise, she adds: “Actually, we have a member of the crew who was a yoga instructor before coming aboard Anjelif.”

Inside, too, the owner aimed for a multipurpose experience. “What you normally wouldn’t find on a yacht this size is that there is a gym and a massage room on the main deck going toward the master suite,” De Marco says. “The massage room is to starboard, and the gym is to port. And the master suite is very special. It has a balcony, a walk-through dressing room and then also a study. There is also an en suite with a Jacuzzi, an infrared sauna—it’s really an outstanding space.”

Belowdecks, the four guest staterooms can be arranged in various ways, including with an apartment-style space for a family with kids.

And speaking of kids, a portion of proceeds go to the owner’s charity, which supports children all around the world.

Fully Custom, All Aluminum

When Columbus Yachts launched Anjelif in 2024, the shipyard said the model was “packed with technical and stylistic innovations.” They include hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, and the application of cold plasma to sanitize air coming from outside for use in ventilation and air conditioning. The goal is to eliminate airborne viruses and bacteria in the airstream.

Columbus Yachts, part of the Palumbo Superyachts family of brands, has launched the all-aluminum, 164-foot, diesel-electric yacht Anjelif.

The fully custom build uses cold plasma to sanitize air coming from outside for ventilation and air conditioning. It also has a system that focuses on room sanitization at preset intervals each day. The first system is intended to eliminate airborne viruses and bacteria in the incoming airstream, while the second system automates the sanitization of each internal area of the boat.

Exteriors and interiors are by Marco Casali of Too Design. Engineering is by the Palumbo Superyachts team.

Design features include a main-deck gymnasium, a sauna and a massage room. A swimming pool at the transom is finished in teak, and there’s a hot tub on the top deck. At the bow, there’s sunbathing and a touch-and-go helipad that converts to an open-air cinema.

Accommodations include a master stateroom forward on the main deck, and four guest staterooms belowdecks. There also are quarters for 11 crew in seven cabins.

Look for the yacht’s world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show later this year.

Let’s talk performance: According to Columbus Yachts, Anjelif has a top speed of 20 knots and a range of 3,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The diesel engine system includes twin 2,600 hp MTU 16V 2000 M96Ls, with twin 175 kW Kohler generators for the electric system. The hybrid setup means the two electric motors can help the yacht achieve about 9 knots, and can be used as shaft generators to allow navigation with the gensets off.

Between the boat-show debuts in Miami and Palm Beach, Florida, and the European shipyards preparing to launch mega-yachts this spring ahead of the summer cruising season, the waterways from the Mediterranean to the Bahamas are about to become flush with a new crop of head-turning designs.

Perhaps the most noteworthy is Phi, Royal Huisman’s 192-footer (shown above) that is below 500 gross tons, making it by far the longest motoryacht in that category—anywhere in the world. Cor D. Rover designed the yacht, which was delivered to the owner in early December.

Phi will take to the water alongside quite a few other new models in all size ranges and styles. The following offers a taste of the lines and features that yachtsmen will soon be able to savor.

Sunseeker 90 Ocean: Expanded Beach Club

One of the focal points on the Sunseeker 90 Ocean is the beach club, which is just shy of 250 square feet. The space allows for a built-in barbecue, an oversize rain shower, and Sunseeker’s X-Tend sun beds that can transform to face forward or aft, depending on how guests want to use them.

Another notable relaxation area is at the yacht’s foredeck, which has sun pads with adjustable backrests, as well as the ability to transform into an open-air cinema with a 140-inch screen. Inside, the Sunseeker 90 Ocean has accommodations for 10 guests and quarters for four crewmembers. Range is up to 1,800 nautical miles at 12 knots, according to Sunseeker, with the ability to top out at 26 knots, if the need arises to push the boat to the pins.

Columbus Atlantique 47: Designed for Adventure

Hull No. 1 of the 154-foot Columbus Atlantique 47 has been sold, with delivery to the owners expected in 2023. The yacht is intended for adventurous cruising, with a steel hull and a projected range of 3,400 nautical miles at 12 knots. Cruising speed is expected to be 14.5 knots, with a top hop of 15.5 knots.

Hot Lab in Italy is the designer on the project, which has two swimming pools as well as a beach club with foldout platforms. Accommodations are for 10 guests, including a full-beam master stateroom on the main deck, with quarters for nine crewmembers. Columbus Yachts is also promising some eco-friendly design elements, such as onboard water purifiers and a propulsion system with low fuel consumption.

Invictus GT320S: Yamaha Outboard Power

The Invictus GT320S just made its world debut at Boot in Düsseldorf, Germany. The boat comes with twin 300 hp Yamaha outboards but can take up to 900 total horsepower. No matter the outboard configuration, the space that normally would have gone to a sterndrive engine room is instead a relaxation area for guests.

And the GT320S gives owners options in addition to the powerplants: The standard portside door can be replaced with a folding terrace, while the standard Bimini top can be automated or replaced with a carbon hardtop that has integrated lighting. Eight color combinations are offered, and the shipyard has a team that’s dedicated to handling whatever custom one-off requests owners can dream up.

Viking 90C: A New Sport-Fishing Flagship

Building on the legacy of its Viking 92, which saw 21 hulls built in seven years’ time, Viking Yachts in New Jersey is offering a new flagship model: the 90C. Three versions are available (Open Bridge, Enclosed Bridge and Sky Bridge), each with a six-stateroom layout that includes a full-beam master stateroom.

The Open and Enclosed Bridge versions can be outfitted with a tuna tower from Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers, and owners can customize the electronics and entertainment systems on all three versions by working with Viking subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics. In all configurations, fishing enthusiasts will have a 224-square-foot cockpit whose sole is reinforced for a fighting chair, along with multiple fish boxes. This is the ultimate fishing yacht.

Columbus Yachts in Italy has completed sea trials on Hull No. 1 of its 164-foot Sport M/Y K2.

With a pair of 2,600-horsepower MTU engines, the yacht hit a top-end speed of 21.5 knots, with a cruising speed of 17 knots; at 10 knots, fuel consumption was about 18 gallons per hour, according to the shipyard.

The yacht has an aluminum hull and superstructure, a vertical bow and a gross tonnage of 499. Draft is a little over 7 feet, allowing for cruising in shallow-water regions such as the Bahamas.

Accommodations are for as many as 11 guests in five staterooms, and there are seven cabins for 11 crew.

Engineering on the design is by Columbus Yachts parent company Palumbo Superyachts, in collaboration with Hydro Tec. Exterior and interior design are by Luca Dini Design & Architecture.

This is the owner’s third project with Palumbo Superyachts.

When will the Columbus Sport 50 M/Y K2 make her official debut? At the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

Columbus Yachts, a division of Palumbo Superyachts in Italy, is planning for the world premiere of the new Columbus flagship, Dragon, at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

The 262-foot Dragon was built in 27 months. Engineering is by Hydro Tec Studio, which also handled exterior design. Interiors are by Francesco Guida.

Twin 3,000-horsepower MTU engines reportedly produce a maximum speed of 17 knots. At 12 knots, range is more than 6,200 nautical miles, according to Columbus.

An elevator serves five of the six decks. The décor includes light woods, and bronze as well as what Columbus calls “satin gold” inserts. The fourth deck is reserved for the owner, with a nearly 1,200-square-foot stateroom, a sauna, a 14-seat dining table on deck aft, and forward access to the helipad.

Dragon carries two tenders: one that’s 23 feet long, and another, built by Columbus, that’s 31 feet length overall. They’re housed on the lower deck along with a 2,150-square-foot beach club that has a bar, sauna, Turkish bath and guest seating in the glow of three backlit blue agate panels.

What else is on board Dragon? Windows that are 16 feet long by 6½ feet high, a bridge-deck wellness area with a massage parlor, a Videoworks home automation and entertainment system, and a 23-foot-long pool on the sun deck.

Palumbo Superyachts has sold a 162-foot Luca Dini design under its brand name Columbus Yachts.

The Columbus S50, built in aluminum, will accommodate 11 guests in five staterooms, with quarters for 11 crew. She is expected to come in at 499 gross tons with a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots, driven by a pair of 2,000-horsepower MTU engines.

A vertical bow is part of the design plan, as are glazed surfaces for letting in natural light. Inspiration was drawn from the ISA Alloy 43 that Dini designed for Palumbo Superyachts.

Construction is underway in Italy: The first Columbus S50 is scheduled for delivery in summer 2020.

Columbus Yachts has released renderings of an 80-meter (262-foot) superyacht, which the builder is calling its first debut in the mega-yacht segment.

The Italian builder designed the vessel’s exterior with the “ocean liners” of the 50s and 60s in mind, however, the interior is contemporary and minimalist.

The 262-footer has six decks with eight staterooms, accommodating 12 people. Guests can travel from each level via glass elevator. The entire upper deck is dedicated to the owner.

There’s also space for 19 crew members in eight cabins.

Columbus is using a new construction process for this megayacht, building the yacht in two separate locations: the steel hull is being built in Naples, and the aluminum superstructure in Ancona. Columbus Yachts plans to join two structures by the end of June 2017.

Range: She can travel 6,000 nm at a cruise of 12 knots.

Columbus Yachts in Italy has unveiled Tomahawk, a 170-foot explorer yacht concept that is intended to serve as the baseline for a range of models from 131 to 328 feet length overall.

Tomahawk comes in at just under 500 gross tons with a hull by Insenaval, whose experience in research vessels emphasizes seakeeping and stability for all-weather cruising. Marco Casali is the designer of Tomahawk, whose name is a nod to the yacht’s bow design.

The layout includes a forward owner’s stateroom with a private terrace and hot tub; a gymnasium and spa; a beach club; a swimming pool; and a dining area at the bow that includes space for movies and karaoke after dessert.

Option for owners: Tomahawk can be ordered with an MCA-compliant helipad on the top deck.

Columbus Yachts, which is part of Italy’s Palumbo Group, is planning the U.S. debut of its 40M Sport Hybrid yacht at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The builder developed the 131-foot motoryacht, christened Eleonora III, in collaboration with Hot Lab Yacht and Design, and the owner. The owner wanted a “green theme,” which is why Eleonora III has woods that are Forest Stewardship Council certified as well as leather treated with a nontoxic water-painting process.

A hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system gives Eleonora III a cruising speed that can range from 3 to 20 knots. At 15 knots, she burns about 56 gallons of fuel between both her engines, combined.
