The Ferretti Yachts 750 represents another step forward in the development of the Ferretti Yacht range over 70 feet, and is the result of a collaboration between Studio Zuccon International Project and the Ferretti Group’s team of engineers, architects and designers. Sami Kay III is a 2017 Ferretti 750 currently located in Miami Beach, Florida, and offered for sale by Allied Marine for $2.255 million.

Thanks to the new flybridge with an elongated aft overhang, the Ferretti 750 is noted for its sleek profile. A distinguishing feature in the stern is the electrohydraulic swim platform which is nearly eight feet wide. It can be lowered completely underwater for easy launching of a deck-mounted tender. The swim platform can lift up to 1,000 pounds and accommodate a tender up to 12 feet in length.

Sami Kay III also has the optional 1,524-mhp MTU 10V 2000 M93 engines, which give it a top speed of 32.5 knots and a cruising speed of 29 knots, according to the builder. The broker notes that the engines have approximately 1,170 hours on them, as of summer 2025.

From the cockpit—which is a true outdoor living and dining room with teak flooring, furnished with a large wooden table, a sofa and chairs seating up to eight people—access both the flybridge, via a staircase to portside, and the crew cabins, via another staircase leading aft, left of the sofa. The glazed door divides the outdoor area from the main deck interiors. The salon spans the entire hull width and has uninterrupted glazing from stern to bow.

Stepping into the salon, a large L-shape sofa in leather and custom-made fabric is to port. Cruisers Yachts 57 Fly Reviewed https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/cruisers-yachts-57-fly-reviewed/ Fri, 11 Jul 2025 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=70646 The Cruisers Yachts 57 Fly has a fuel capacity of 611 gallons, good for a cruising range of 250 nautical miles at 25 knots.

The post Cruisers Yachts 57 Fly Reviewed appeared first on Yachting.

A new Cruisers Yachts model offers insight into American boating lifestyles, since the builder seeks owner and dealer feedback to shape its launches. The Cruisers 57 Fly speaks to boaters’ desires to entertain and engage with the water—for instance, by taking transom platforms and folding hullsides to the next level.

Consider the portside deck, where the entire bulwark from the cockpit to the midcabin folds out. Cruisers wasn’t the first to introduce this feature, but the builder added a cool touch by placing a pair of stools next to a sliding window that opens to the galley. A wraparound settee with a dinette across the transom provides an entertainment hub for dining, lounging or water play, all accessible from the oversize swim platform, which submerges for swimming or launching a tender weighing up to 850 pounds. A transom lounge also folds out to create a beach club.

The concept of “water interaction” is more than just splashing around. The 57 Fly also has nearly 360 degrees of salon windows, allowing guests to relax in the interior’s air conditioning while still feeling connected to the surrounding environment. This theme carries through to the staterooms, all of which have oversize windows so guests can enjoy the water views while resting in bed.

The Cruisers 57 Fly could easily be called “party central,” with four dining areas spread across two levels, all supported by two spots to cook. On the main deck, there is a dinette aft and a formal dining area in the salon. The foredeck lounge is truly versatile, converting from sun pads facing either way to bench seating or a dinette with twin tables.

The lower galley has acres of stowage and can be fitted with a dishwasher. Courtesy Cruisers Yachts

The flybridge is another highlight, with its galley and an optional Texan grill measuring 2 square feet. It has a flat plancha (perfect for veggies or omelets) and a traditional grate. The bridge also includes a wraparound dinette that seats 12, with a high-low table partially shaded by the hardtop.

The salon is built for alfresco living, with triple sliding doors and all-weather boating features, including a settee and a 55-inch pop-up TV. The galley has a convection microwave, two-burner Kenyon cooktop, and four fridge drawers for a total of 12.6 cubic feet of stowage. By eliminating a full-height fridge, the Cruisers design team gave the skipper unobstructed visibility aft.

Cruisers 57 Fly
A foldout terrace with a bar to port along with a foldout beach club aft give the 57 Fly a Transformer vibe. Courtesy Cruisers Yachts

Speaking of the skipper, the helm is a thoughtfully designed, ergonomic space with twin 16-inch Garmin multifunction displays, a Volvo Penta IPS joystick and a double-wide bolstered helm seat. Two footrests—one of which flips up for standing—and a window that opens for communication with the crew are practical, thoughtful features. My favorite thing at the helm was the sleek black dashboard that curves smoothly into a wide eyebrow, effectively shielding the monitors from glare through the windshield.

The 57 Fly has a three-stateroom, two-head layout. The owner’s stateroom spans the beam amidships with a walk-around queen berth, a four-drawer bureau, and a built-in table with two settees for playing games or enjoying morning croissants. An Isotherm wine locker and a washer-dryer combo are options. The en suite head has a full-size shower with a Lucite door and seat, a Euro-style sink and faucet, and another window with blinds for privacy.

Cruisers 57 Fly

The forepeak VIP stateroom has a queen berth and an equal-size en suite that doubles as a day head. The third stateroom, across the passage, has twin berths that convert into a double.

Although the 57 Fly is designed with owner-operators in mind, there’s air-conditioned crew quarters abaft the engine room. The cabin has a single berth, a head and space for handling lines. It could also serve as a private area for a teenager, be used for stowage or act as a work area.

Power for the Cruisers 57 Fly comes from a pair of Volvo Penta IPS950 pod drives, powered by 725 hp, six-cylinder common-rail D11 diesels with twin-entry turbos. This combination provides more than enough power to push the 57 Fly past the 30-knot mark, even in the choppy Gulf Stream conditions we experienced. At a cruising speed of 25 knots, the engines sip 63 gallons per hour, giving the 57 Fly a range of about 250 nautical miles. If you’re not in a hurry, cruising at 9 knots increases the range to approximately 700 nm.

Cruisers 57 Fly
Award-winning Miami-based yacht designer Luiz De Basto engineered the dramatic windows on the 57 Fly. Courtesy Cruisers Yachts

On the water, the 57 Fly is a true pleasure. Whether running up-sea or cross-sea, the yacht handles with aplomb, thanks to the standard Seakeeper 9 gyrostabilizer and the hull design by Donald Blount and Associates. Returning to the marina after our offshore excursion, the joystick with pod drives made maneuvering into tight spaces a breeze, with no white-knuckle moments. Two fingers and a twist was all it took.

Let the phrase “water interaction” become part of your boating vocabulary by experiencing the Cruisers Yachts 57 Fly.

Chef’s Delight

The lower galley has acres of stowage and can be fitted with a dishwasher. A nice touch is the Plexiglas backsplash to keep any chef uh-ohs from spilling onto the dinette upholstery. The upper cooking area has a Texan grill, a fridge and an ice maker.

A Place for Everything

The foredeck is seamanlike, with a Quick vertical windlass and 200 feet of chain tucked out of sight, a washdown in the anchor locker, and a pair of clamshell lockers on the cabin top to absorb deck gear such as fenders and dock lines.

Pedigree Design

Award-winning Miami-based yacht designer Luiz De Basto engineered the dramatic windows on the 57 Fly, as well as masterminded the decor on the boat we got aboard. The ocean-sand oak draws on his background of more than 200 boats and superyachts over 30 years.

Bandol, a 2006 Marlow Explorer 78E, is listed for sale with Worth Avenue Yachts at $1.895 million.

The yacht underwent a significant refit in 2020 and is powered by twin 1,000 hp Caterpillar C-18 Acert diesels. There is a four-stateroom layout for 10 guests, along with crew quarters aft.

The Cats, which both have around 4,300 hours on them, provide a reported top speed of 18 knots and a comfortable cruise of about 10 knots. Compared to earlier models that used larger 3412 Cat engines, the C18s offer a quieter and more compact alternative while preserving performance. Aquadrive couplings and soft engine mounts contribute to a yacht’s quiet ride. The motoryacht is also equipped with Naiad stabilizers, as well as bow and stern thrusters, supporting both underway comfort and close-quarters maneuverability.

The salon is finished in satin teak with a teak-and-holly sole and includes a U-shaped settee, coffee table, flat-screen T, and surround-sound audio system. Courtesy Worth Avenue Yachts

“Twin keels enhance performance. Basically, a hollow is molded into the bottom about amidships, and a wave forms in this area. This wave will cancel out a large stern wave, increasing performance. I’ve run several Marlows and can attest that each hull is easily driven and surefooted” Yachting previously reported of the Marlow 78E.

Accommodations include a full-beam master suite located amidships with a king-size berth, stowage and a split-head arrangement with a walk-in shower. A VIP stateroom is forward, while two guest staterooms offer additional sleeping accommodations. All guest spaces were updated with new mattresses in 2021. Crew quarters for two are located aft with separate access and head/shower facilities.

The salon has satin-finish teak with a teak-and-holly sole and includes a U-shaped settee, coffee table, flat-screen TV and a surround-sound audio system. Forward is a formal dining area for six to eight guests, but dropping in a leaf increases seating for another couple of guests. The galley, located adjacent to the pilothouse, includes Sub-Zero refrigeration, a Dacor cooktop and oven, a Franke sink and quartz countertops added during the refit. The raised pilothouse offers clean sightlines.

Some notable system upgrades completed in 2020 include new Garmin electronics, CCTV, a chilled-water air-conditioning system and a flybridge enclosure. Both 25 kW Northern Lights generators were also serviced, and new windlass and thruster motors were installed. Additional mechanical service included new zincs, Cutlass bearing inspection and exhaust system updates.

The yacht’s engine room is finished in Awlgrip and there is good access to all systems, clear labeling and soft patches for engine service. “The fuel system is designed to solve a common flaw on many yachts-the inability to use the full fuel capacity. The tank follows the contour of the hullsides, terminating at a sump at the bottom of the tank. All the fuel flows and is forced to this sump and pick-up point, allowing you to use all the fuel except that in the sump. Furthermore, two inspection plates allow a periodic cleaning of the tank,” Yachting previously reported.

When it comes to being built for long passages over open water, “Each hull is built with Kevlar and vinylester resins and then vacuum-bagged. In addition, the use of composites and coring in cabin soles and bulkheads has a beneficial effect on the interior accommodations by allowing Marlow to draw a relatively low and lean profile while not skimping on interior volume,” Yachting previously reported.

Bandol’s exterior includes teak decks, a Portuguese bridge, wide side decks and a full swim platform. The flybridge has a helm station with twin Stidd chairs, a wet bar, a grill, an icemaker and a wraparound settee with a table. A davit aft helps with handling the tender.

As a one-owner yacht, Bandol presents with a well-documented upgrade history. At just under $1.9 million, it competes well within the segment for 75- to 80-foot semi-displacement motoryachts. Prospective buyers will want to confirm maintenance records, engine hours and electronics functionality.

For those seeking a capable long-range cruiser built with stout construction, efficient performance and a homelike interior layout, Bandol could be worth a closer look.

Cheoy Lee Shipyards, known today for its custom superyachts and the CL Yachts fiberglass series, has a history that spans more than 150 years.

Founded in the 1870s, this family-operated business is now led by the fourth and fifth generations of boatbuilders. The company began in commercial shipbuilding and has since earned a reputation for innovation and craftsmanship across multiple disciplines.

In the 1960s, Cheoy Lee became an early adopter of glass-reinforced plastic (fiberglass), setting the foundation for its eventual move into the recreational yacht market.

The shipyard has a forward-thinking philosophy, continually advancing its use of technology and refining its manufacturing techniques. High-tech tools used in production include CNC water jets, laser and plasma cutters and five-axis milling machines—all contributing to precision and efficiency. One innovation it pioneered that is de rigueur today is the use of vacuum-bagging technology, first researched in the 1970s. This process improves resin-to-glass ratios, reduces vessel weight and lowers emissions.

Cheoy Lee Yachts focuses on fully custom builds and superyachts, while its sister brand, CL Yachts, specializes in series-built fiberglass models. The CLX series, in particular, is recognized for its modern design sensibility.

On the large-yacht side, Cheoy Lee recently introduced the 127 Discovery, an explorer yacht with a steel hull and a reported 4,000-nautical-mile range at 10.5 knots. According to the builder, the 127’s displacement hull has a “sharp entry and spray chine to ensure comfort and safe passage in heavy sea conditions.” Luxe touches include a main-deck master suite, four guest staterooms, a beach club and a sundeck with a hot tub, bar and more.

CLX96
The CLX96 introduced a new look for CL Yachts with its plumb bow and an overall exterior design that pays homage to the builder’s commercial shipbuilding heritage. Courtesy Cheoy Lee Shipyards

“The 127 Discovery draws on everything we know about building seaworthy global cruisers and hardy, reliable commercial vessels and workboats, and combines it all into an elegant, contemporary ocean-going yacht that delivers luxurious world cruising without compromise on facilities or service,” says Martin Lo, director of both Cheoy Lee and CL Yachts, and a fourth-generation builder.

Recent CL Yachts models include the CLX96 and CLX99, developed in collaboration with Milan-based designer Jozeph Forakis. These yachts feature plumb bows, angular lines and reverse windscreens, referencing the builder’s commercial shipbuilding heritage while emphasizing a sleek aesthetic.

CL Yachts also offers two additional model lines: CLA and CLB. These owner-operator yachts retain the stout construction of larger models while offering semicustom elements. The CLB65— the entry point to the four-model CLB lineup stretching to 88 feet LOA— is also available in a recently released SUV version without a flybridge.

Boat building
While some boatbuilding tasks can be automated, there’s still abundant handmade craftsmanship in every yacht. Courtesy Cheoy Lee Shipyards

“The CLB65 SUV is the sportiest and most compact yacht to date in the CL Yachts series, and it builds not only on the success of our CLB65, but also on five generations of boatbuilding prowess to deliver performance, maneuverability, and comfort in equal measure,” says Lo.

The CL Yachts “A” lineup currently includes a 76-foot model.

Cheoy Lee and CL Yachts have accomplished what many find difficult: building a broad range of vessels for varied use cases without compromising on quality or luxury. Every yacht is built to class standards with meticulous attention to detail.

Looking ahead, Cheoy Lee continues to evolve—not just by developing new models, but also by adopting new production methods. The builder plans to emphasize eco-conscious solutions, including hybrid and alternative propulsion systems, as well as using artificial intelligence and human-robotic manufacturing to improve construction quality and efficiency.

If past performance is any indication, Cheoy Lee seems well-positioned for another 150 years of innovation and success.

“What’s an ideal boat for cruising North America’s Great Loop? Answers abound, but the Ranger Tugs R-43 Command Bridge makes a strong case. The R-43 CB that I got aboard proved rugged and able for rough, near-coastal waters. “The R-43 CB’s cockpit and beamy swim platform create an adaptable outdoor living space. Three insulated lazarette hatches on electric rams provide access to the engines and pod drives. The cockpit’s focal point is a pair of three-person lounges with tables that can face forward side by side, rotate to face each other with the tables coming together, or turn aft side by side for watching sunsets. The cockpit also has a sink and ice maker to port and steps to the command bridge,” Yachting stated in its review.

Australian yacht builder Maritimo launched its M50 Flybridge Motor Yacht at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

The 50-foot enclosed flybridge yacht integrates Maritimo’s hallmark features—ocean-going capability, safety and long-range cruising capabilities—while introducing refinements in layout, stowage and functionality. A key exterior innovation is the articulating rear swim platform, which folds to reduce the M50’s dockside length and opens to create a waterside entertainment zone.

Inside, panoramic windows, skylights and hatches illuminate the interior with natural light. The M50 has a two-stateroom layout with a full-beam master stateroom, which the builder says is larger than those typically found on 55- and 60-foot yachts. Additional accommodations include a convertible lounge in the flybridge, increasing guest capacity to eight.

The enclosed flybridge features climate control, twin helm chairs, a wraparound lounge and space for several navigation displays. Powered by twin Volvo Penta D13-800 engines, the Maritimo M50 cruises at 24 knots and reaches top speeds of 30 knots, according to the builder’s sea trials. It’s designed for long-distance coastal or offshore cruising, and also marks the beginning of a refreshed model cycle, with the S50 Sedan variant expected in 2026.
